Server Support Technician Diploma

The programme is available in 2 duration modes:

1. Server Hardware: Students learn about server hardware components, including processors, memory, storage devices, expansion cards, and power supply units. They gain an understanding of server architecture, form factors, and the selection and installation of server hardware.

2. Server Operating Systems: Students are introduced to server operating systems such as Windows Server or Linux distributions. They learn how to install, configure, and manage server operating systems, including user and group management, file and print services, and network services.

3. Network Fundamentals: Students acquire a basic understanding of networking concepts, including network protocols, IP addressing, subnetting, and network troubleshooting. They learn how to configure and manage network connectivity for server systems.

4. Server Virtualization: Students are introduced to the concept of server virtualization, including popular virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V. They learn how to create and manage virtual machines, allocate resources, and perform virtual machine migrations.

5. Server Administration: Students learn essential server administration tasks, including user and group management, access control, file and print services configuration, and server role management. They gain knowledge of server security configurations and implementing backup and recovery strategies.

6. Server Troubleshooting: Students develop skills in troubleshooting server hardware and software issues. They learn techniques for diagnosing and resolving common server problems, such as hardware failures, driver issues, operating system errors, and network connectivity problems.

7. Server Networking: Students learn about server networking configurations, including IP addressing, DHCP, DNS, and Active Directory integration. They gain an understanding of network services and protocols essential for server communication.

8. Server Maintenance and Monitoring: Students learn best practices for server maintenance and monitoring, including regular updates and patches, performance monitoring, and system optimization. They understand the importance of server monitoring tools and techniques to ensure optimal server performance.

9. Server Security: Students gain knowledge of server security practices, including implementing access controls, configuring firewalls, managing user permissions, and securing server data. They learn about common security threats and how to mitigate them.

10. Practical Hands-On Experience: Many Server Support Technician certificate programs include hands-on lab exercises and projects where students apply their knowledge to real-world scenarios. They gain practical experience in server installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
