• LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is a green building certification program developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). •
• LEED certification is based on a points system, which evaluates a building's sustainability performance in various categories such as sustainable sites, water efficiency, energy and atmosphere, materials and resources, indoor environmental quality, and innovation in design. •
• The LEED rating system consists of four levels: Certified, Silver, Gold, and Platinum, with each level representing an increasing level of sustainability performance. •
• LEED v4 is the current version of the LEED rating system, which includes new credit categories and revised requirements for existing ones. •
• Sustainable Sites (SS) is a LEED credit category that evaluates a building's impact on the surrounding environment, including site selection, stormwater management, and habitat creation. •
• Energy and Atmosphere (EA) is another key LEED credit category, which assesses a building's energy efficiency and indoor environmental quality, including measures such as daylighting, ventilation, and thermal comfort. •
• Materials and Resources (MR) is a LEED credit category that evaluates a building's material selection and usage, including recycled materials, sustainably sourced materials, and waste reduction. •
• Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) is a LEED credit category that focuses on the indoor air quality, acoustics, and thermal comfort of a building. •
• LEED AP (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional) is a credential that recognizes professionals who have demonstrated expertise in LEED design and operations. •
• LEED training and education programs are available to help professionals develop the knowledge and skills needed to achieve LEED certification.
